2016 Award of Merit Honorees: Category 35. Best Single Family Detached Home- Over 5,000 sq. ft.

Angeleno Associates was chosen by William Lyon Homes to design two innovative floor plans for nice separate lots within the Covenant Hills Master Planned Community. The “Artisan 1 Collection” consisted of two imaginative floor plans designed by David Ko and Christine Ly who creatively adapted the varying lot characteristics and design restrictions into five distinct different architectural styles. Throughout the arduous Covenant Hills Design Review Committee process each lot was extensively reviewed, critiqued, improved upon and ultimately given approved for the County of Orange permit submittal process.

While challenged by the fast pace of reviews and submittal deadlines, continuous communication enabled a collaboration of ideas, which resulted in creative solutions grounded in practicality, ultimately resulting in permits to move to construction phases.

"As Senior Project Manager, I derived the most satisfaction in watching design concepts morph from paper into “dream homes” through the effort of so many talented individuals working as a collective team." said John Stout, senior project manager at Angeleno. "With my home base in South Orange County, I had multiple on site opportunities to work constructively with the Lyon Homes Professional Construction Team including Brian Geis, Senior Project Manager and Jim Griffin, Construction Superintendent. These meetings resulted in a cooperative effort to accurately execute the design intent. Angeleno Associates is currently looking forward to the continued successful working relationship with William Lyon Homes with the anticipation of the “Artisan 2 Collection”.
